Schonburger is a rare grape variety, originating in Germany. Not many plantings remain around the world, and we are one of very few remaining producers. It is an aromatic grape variety, producing beautiful pink berries when ripe. We’ll be honest, Schonburger is a pain to grow - hence not being widely available. We can only make it in good years, and it is typically limited to 1000 bottles/harvest - a rare wine indeed! Our Schonburger has won many awards over the years, most recently a WineGB Bronze in 2023.
Our Schonburger from the 2024 harvest is a dry and aromatic wine with delicate floral aromas, notes of lychee, yellow peach and some subtle spice . It’s soft and textured palate gives it a long finish and make it an outstanding pairing for lightly spiced Asian-fusion dishes or a simple Sunday roast chicken.
