Tucked into the hamlet of Noah's Ark on the edge of Malmesbury, Bow in the Cloud is one of England's older vineyards — planted in 1992, and still worked by the same family. Come and spend an afternoon among the old vines, taste what they make, and find out how a Wiltshire field ended up with a name from a newspaper competition.

We run vineyard tours and tastings on selected Sunday afternoons from spring to autumn — relaxed, informal, and welcoming whether you know your Bacchus from your Schonburger or you've never given wine a second thought. Scheduled tour dates are as follows, but please reach out to us through the contact page to check other availability (particularly for larger groups of 10+):

Sunday 7th June 2:00pm

Sunday 14th June 2:00pm

Sunday 5th July 2:00pm

Sunday 12th July 2:00pm

Sunday 2nd August 2:00pm

Sunday 16th August 2.00pm

Sunday 6th September 2:00pm

Getting here

We're a few minutes from Malmesbury, with parking on site (postcode SN16 9NS, what3words ///attablant.claqueur.reployant).

If you'd rather not drive — which, on a wine tasting, is no bad thing — there are local taxis:

  • S.A. Taxi, Malmesbury — 07515 868691

  • Cirencester Taxis 247 — 07735 602648

A short, inexpensive hop from town. If you're a group, get in touch and we can point you towards transport options.

Make a day, or a weekend, of it

There's plenty around us to build a visit around:

  • Lunch nearby: The Rose & Crown at Lea is a lovely spot close by; the Horse & Groom at Charlton is a good stop before or after; and The Potting Shed at Crudwell is a smart country pub a few minutes away.

  • Things to see: Malmesbury Abbey and the historic town centre, the beautiful Abbey House Gardens beside it, and Westonbirt Arboretum a short drive away.

  • Staying over: The Old Bell and The Kings Arms in Malmesbury are both characterful places to stay within walking distance of the town.

Vineyard Tour & Tasting

A wander through the vines (thirty minutes to an hour, as long as you like within reason), taken before or after your tasting. We're a proper working family vineyard rather than a polished visitor centre, so it's rustic and it's outdoors — bring a coat and sensible shoes. We farm with the wildlife in mind: no insecticides, hand-picked, and vegan-friendly.

Back at the shelter you'll taste three still wines and our sparkling, all made from our own grapes. There's no right or wrong way to do this and no quiz at the end — ask us anything; the only aim is that you enjoy what's in the glass.

£20 per person, or £30 with a cheeseboard of local cheeses from Brinkworth Dairy down the road (please give us a few days' notice for cheese). Children under 12 free, though we've no child-specific facilities.

Vouchers make a lovely gift.
